Let’s find out what FSSAI actually is.
Introduction of FSSAI
FSSAI stands the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, which is simply a license for a food product based company. It was established in 2006, under the Ministry of health and family welfare and has its headquarters in New Delhi. Any food product based company or business in India needs to register under FSSAI to legally manufacture, transport, or distribute food products.
FSSAI is responsible for setting standards of food, to avoid confusion in the minds of consumers, traders, manufacturers, and investors.
It enhances the food standards according to the latest processing technology.
But most importantly it deals with ensuring the safety of food by testing it.
Why FSSAI License:
No matter if you run a small canteen, club, a Dhaba, a restaurant, a medical, even if you own a large food-based company you need to register the product which you are selling under FSSAI and get the license.
It ensures customers or consumer, that the product they are eating doesn’t contain adulteration or anything that will harm them. The display of the FSSAI registration mark generates trust within the customer.
The product also gains a legal advantage as it receives direct recognition from the government.
