Accommodation
No accommodation was provided there and I travelled by myself to the court as it was 20 minutes distance from my home only.
Infrastructure and First day impression & Formalities
On the first day, as I entered the chamber, the area was big enough and sufficient for 2 advocates to sit and 2-3 clients as well as interns. As it was my first day he introduced me to his another advocate friend and 1 more intern who was already working with sir from 15 days.
Jacob sir work with one more advocate in his chamber and that day he just told me about his work and made be comfortable out there and was very friendly at the same time.
Main Tasks
Main task there was attending the court proceedings and do research on the ongoing cases which were there. Daily as we reached the chamber we were asked to check the files and were told which all court rooms we have to be in for the proceedings. Usually we would hear our sir arguing and when sir was not present or have gone to some other court we would have ask for another date from the Judge or take pass-over.
It was quite fun standing in front of the judge for some pass-over and all. In the beginning I was a little confused and didn’t knew how this works but then I got used to these things and was confident.
Work Environment and people
The work environment was very comfortable and cool everyone there in the chamber was very friendly and interactive with me. Both the sir and his another associate friend told me about their ongoing cases and helped me in understanding them. They explained me everything perfectly and the aura there was very peaceful and I was enjoying the work. Some days when I would not get a lunch from my home they got me dosa or anything which I liked. Everyone there acted like a friend of mine and I enjoyed working there for 4 months.
Best Things
Best things were that I got a lot of knowledge there about the court proceedings and everything how the court works and about the client counselling.
Bad Things
I didn’t experience any bad thing about the internship.
What did you do to chill? Co-inters, colleagues
Somedays when we didn’t have any work or after our work was completed we use to talk to sir in the chamber and share our past experiences and chilled like that.
With my co-intern I use to chill out in canteen and sometimes in library also.
Stipend
No stipend was provided.
Biggest Lessons
Earlier I hesitated a lot in court but now my fear has gone and this internship had taught me a lot about the courts and felt great meeting new people and talking to strangers which will help me in future as well.
